Having attended a lot of film festivals around the world, we noticed that one of the most popular programmes was that for Short Films.
These often were the first chance for young up and coming film makers to showcase their work and be seen for the first time.
However, once they had finished the festival run their films were often forgotten about.
True, there do exist some distributors who pick them up and show them on satellite TV, or offer them for sale on iTunes, but we thought we could do better than that.
Addressing the problem that we didn’t know anyone who would pay money to watch a short film, we decided to set up a YouTube channel, 21STFILM, where we aimed to distribute the very best in Short Independent Film for free.
At launch we partnered with THE FILM FESTIVAL DOCTOR and were able to secure the rights to show a number of short films.
Here is a playlist of just a few of them:
The advantages of showing the films on YouTube are that there are no expensive hosting fees, the films can be seen on any device. Video playback is smooth and is easily accessible anyway on the planet.
And what many people don’t realise, is that YouTube is the second most popular search engine in the World, (after Google, their parent company).
So by taking the time to include all the film makers details in the video description we have made their films easily accessible and available to be seen by those who might not have been able to before.
Our channel is still growing. If you’d like to submit your films for inclusion then please click the button below and complete the form:
